A bit about the history of Vent Media
The company represents the work of digital artist Barret Hodgson.
Barret started to project montages of original and found material for parties back in the mid nineties whilst studying Fine Art in Newcastle. He developed this practice alongside his main body of work in oil painting, film making and graphic design, going on to make a name for himself within underground culture as a projection artist and VJ which led to providing visuals and working for Ghostface Killah, Fat Boy Slim, DJ Yoda, Roni Size and many many others.
The same dedication to cut and splice studio techniques came with him when he transferred his library of material to digital format and begin to develop new techniques in that fledgling medium.
What also came with him was an ever developing sense of what captured an audience and how visuals could marry with other environments to creative truly creative experiences.An apprenticeship of many years providing transpositive visual settings for music and events brought his highly developed artistic and collaborative sensibility to new audiences and settings.
Ever a craftsman, he has continued to combine the artistic vocabularies he has developed with the most cutting edge technologies available.
With Vent Media he has gathered the experience to understand and augment the visions of a great range of creative professionals, meeting with them from the earliest stages of a project's ideas base and taking a project through to stunning conclusions.
This development of skills now broadens the scope of theatre work, dance, music, art installations & public commissions, and has been shown in London, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Ukraine, and across Europe including the Venice biennale.
