SANCTITY OF LIGHT

Chesterfield Church (The Crooked Spire) 2025

Sanctity of Light was a large-scale immersive installation created for the nave of Chesterfield Parish Church, one of the most iconic ecclesiastical buildings in the UK.
Commissioned as part of the church’s Christmas programme, the project invited audiences into a contemplative, light-filled experience that transformed the Gothic interior without relying on traditional festive imagery.

Working in collaboration with Lindley Productions, Vent Media developed a full 3D projection-mapped environment that responded directly to the architecture of the nave. The installation combined bespoke animated content with volumetric lighting to create an atmospheric narrative journey from cold to warmth, and from darkness into illumination.

Subtle references to the Nativity emerged through shifting patterns, colour transitions and the interplay of light across the church’s stonework and stained glass, while maintaining an inclusive and family-friendly tone.
The projection design made extensive use of 3D illusion techniques, crafted to work from multiple viewpoints within the space and to complement the unique geometry of the building.

Sanctity of Light offered visitors a moment of quiet immersion and reflection at the heart of Chesterfield’s most recognisable landmark—an experience shaped by the building’s history, character and enduring presence.
